It is with deep sadness that I inform you of my mothers passing. Carolyn Ann Knight, age 65 of French Lick, Indiana peacefully transitioned to the other side at 3:10 p.m. on Friday, November 17th, 2017. She was at home surrounded by family and friends. There to greet her as she transitioned were her parents William Hopper and Betty and Donnie Brown, her grandson Chase William McCracken, she and dadâs twins â Christy Dawn and Jason Dwain Knight, her brother Charles âBubâ Hopper and many other family and friends.
She and my dad, Wayne Knight, were married on August 10th, 1974. They had five children â Jody and Jamie McCracken, Twins â Christy Dawn and Jason Dwain Knight who sadly were premature and did not survive long after birth and Brandi (Knight) Kaiser.
Mother was born on June 1st, 1952 to William Hopper and Betty Pearl (Ballard) Hopper. Donnie Brown became her stepfather when she was a young girl and was a significant part of our lives until his passing in 2016. Mother is survived by two sisters â Jean Patton (Joe) and Katie Hallaway (Paul) and one brother â Ronnie Hopper all of French Lick; four grandsons â Brady Tucker, Tyler Mills and Konnor and Riley McCracken; four grand dogs â Lucky Jo, Leo, Jet Pack and Bella D. Kaiser and multiple nieces and nephews.
Mother had many different jobs throughout her life, mainly in healthcare. For many years she was a CNA. She then attended Ball State University and earned a degree in Long-term care administration and was the administrator of Williams Health for a number of years. One of my fondest memories of mother is what an outstanding caregiver she was. She would often times bring a different resident home with her to have supper with us. She went above and beyond, she was special. She worked at Orange County Hospital for several years in many different positions, and then spent a little time working at the Dollar General, Row Boat Cafe, and the German Café in French Lick just to keep her busy and social. She was too feisty for retirement and loved the interaction and friendships her hometown employment provided her.
Mother is being cremated and there will be no service. You may offer any condolences to my dad, Wayne Knight at 9661 West County Road 175 South, French Lick, Indiana 47432. He lost his soulmate of 43 + years and was a wonderful husband and caretaker to her until her dying breath.
Peace and love friends and family. Thank you so much for everything you have done for Mother, dad and our family.
Mother, I will miss and hold you in my heart every day until I die. See you on the other side.
We Love You,
Brandi
