Christine Ann Szott Clements, age 67, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, in hospice care at The Holmstad in Batavia, Illinois, after an extended struggle with Frontotemporal Dementia. Her husband of 43 years, Don, and son, Michael, were by her side. Born and raised in Royal Oak, Michigan, Christine was the daughter of Regina and Adam Szott. She met Don in 1972, in Southfield, Michigan, when he asked her to dance. A devoted wife and loving mother, Christine treasured her family and friends. She took pride in sending loved ones handwritten letters, often filled with confetti. Holidays were celebrations, complete with lavish decorations and specially crafted menus. A talented artist and designer, she filled her home with color and whimsy. Christine loved teddy bears, animals and listening to Bruce Springsteen. When she arrives in heaven, she will “bury [her] old soul and dance on its grave.” In addition to Don and Michael, she will be loved and missed by daughter-in-law, Elizabeth, and grandson, Mikey. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Oct. 18 at the Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home in French Lick, Indiana. A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Christine’s name to Shriners Hospitals for Children or Best Friends Animal Society.
