Christine Sue Elliott passed away gracefully in her sleep on September 6th, 2023 at Ormond Manor in Ormond Beach, Florida. Born on September 8th, 1932 in French Lick, Indiana where she spent her youth in the country until moving to Indianapolis upon which she graduated from Shortridge High School in 1950.
Christine met the love of her life and her lifelong companion, Ward W. Elliott of Abydell, Indiana. Although Ward knew of the “black haired beauty” their paths did not cross until they both moved to the big city of Indianapolis. They were married in 1954 and began their family with a son (Jeff) followed by a daughter (Lisa). Christine worked at Indiana University Medical Center in the Ophthalmology and Dental Departments until her retirement at which point, she began volunteering at both the Ronald McDonald House and St. Francis Hospital where she accrued over 1,000 hours of public service.
Christine and Ward were longtime members of Mount Pleasant Church in Greenwood, IN. During their time at Mount Pleasant, they were introduced to new members of the congregation from the Chin immigrant population. They quickly pledged their time, talent and treasure into providing relief to several of these families.
Christine was preceded in death by her beloved, Ward, in 2017. Christine leaves behind a loving family including her son Jeffery Ward Elliott; daughter Lisa Christine Garry (David); grandchildren D.J. (Anastasiya Wessel); Christine Bishop (James); Andrew Elliott (Chandler); great grandchildren David Joseph Garry V and Lucille Margret Elliott. Nina will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, relatives, friends and co-workers.
Christine led a life of love and caring for those less fortunate than herself. She will never be forgotten and will live in our hearts forever.
