Jason D. "Puckey" Hughes

Jason D. “Puckey” Hughes, 45, of French Lick, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, October 16th, 2020 at his residence.

He was born on July 11th, 1975 in Huntingburg, Indiana to Wayne and Lena (Feltner) Hughes.

Jason was preceded in death by his Grandparents – Volley and Hilda Feltner; Elmer Hughes and Connie (Stone) Hughes-Glass.

He married the love of his life, Loran Jones, on September 26th, 2015 and she survives.

Jason was a member of the Nicholson Valley Christian Church where he loved to listen to and sing hymns, his favorite being Amazing Grace. He was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and spoke of Him to anyone who would listen.

He graduated from Southridge High School in Huntingburg, Indiana and had worked at the family business, Hughes Paving, for many years. Jason enjoyed hunting, archery, fishing, the Indy 500, and taking long country cruises in his Jeep Wrangler.  Jason’s (second) love was being on the golf course. He took every opportunity to make the best of a nice day and play some golf. Jason was a diehard Indianapolis Colts fan. 

Jason enjoyed spending time with family and friends at gatherings, holidays or special events. No matter the occasion, he would always make it a fun one.

He is survived by:

Brother Michael Hughes (Rena) French Lick, Indiana

Sister Angie (Hughes) Matthews (Jason) Birdseye, Indiana

Mother and Father In-law Danny and Lisa Jones Mitchell, Indiana

Aunts Elaine Hemmer, Debbie Byers, Cheryl Ziegler, Kathy Feltner, and Susie Hughes

Uncles Larry Feltner, Jeff Hughes, Larry Ziegler, Curt Songer, and Terry Byers

(2) Brothers In-Law Aaron Jones (Tessa) and Ian Jones

Godson Eli Fox

Several Cousins and Loving Friends also survive.

Jason was a one-of-a-kind guy who drew people to him, he was a very special person and will be deeply missed.

VISITATION

Cremation was chosen and a visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 24th, 2020 from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home, French Lick, Indiana. A private family service will be held at a later time.

We ask that all who attend please comply to social distancing guidelines and wear a face covering while paying your respects during the visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Loran (Jones) Hughes for her wishes.
