Jessie Louise Whalin

Jessie Louise Whalin of Orleans, Indiana entered into eternal rest on June 21st, 2024 at 89 years old, surrounded by her loved ones. Jessie was born on July 24th, 1934 at home to James B. Sr. and Nannie (Holland) Whalin.

After the death of her parents, Jessie’s brother Bill became her legal guardian. With him, she would reside for 32 years. Bill was responsible for procuring a network of in-home assistance for Jessie. Bill and Jessie shared a very special bond.

Jessie was a bright light in many people’s lives and anyone who had the pleasure to meet her instantly loved her. She was joyful, kind and pure. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family over a can of Coke and other treats such as cake, ice cream, and candy. Jessie was usually found sitting in her chair holding her baby doll Goldie, legs crossed and ready to turn the television on. Her favorite shows included Hee Haw, Matlock, and cartoons. She also enjoyed coloring, cutting up magazines, Conway Twitty, and sitting by the window watching cars drive by. Jessie's final days were spent surrounded by immeasurable love of her family.

Jessie is survived by her brother Bill; sisters Carolyn and Patrcia; nephew Scott Whalin (Maryann); great nieces Victoria Murr (Isaac) and Jenna Whalin; great nephew Zeke Whalin; and great-great nephew Kieran Murr. She was preceded in death by parents Nannie and James B. Sr.; three brothers, James B. “JB” Jr., Wayne “Whitey”, and Robert and Sister Lois.

Jessie’s life was blessed by several home health caregivers who assisted with her special needs. The family would like to recognize and thank the following caregivers for their commitment to providing care for Jessie Louise: Linda Grissom, Angie Grissom, Nan Williams, Maryannah Mosier, Alexis DeCarlo, Bonnie Wheat, Maryann Whalin and Jenna Whalin. All unnamed caregivers are also greatly appreciated.

Jessie will be greatly missed by her friends and family. Her irreplaceable personality will live on through memories her family holds dear in their hearts.

A Private Graveside Ceremony will be held with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Orleans, Indiana.
